At the beginning
of this school year Alesandel wanted to drop out of
high school. He didn't see the point of going
to class if all of his friends were going to drop
out too. But Alesandel didn't drop out, instead
he now plans on finishing high school and becoming
the first member of his family to go to college.
What changed? Alesandel made a promise to his
father that he would graduate, and Alesandel joined
Congreso's Exito program. Through the Exito program, which brings together tutoring and entrepreneurship, supported by a guiding relationship with Congreso staff, Alesandel has pulled his grades from failing to passing and he has created a business plan to start his own car wash.
