For Congreso, the hallmarks of fiscal year 2009 were innovation, relationships, and accountability.  These forces have proven essential in our fight against poverty. Our strategy tests the limits of innovation in education and employment in order to connect our clients with educational credentials and family sustaining careers. We integrated our well-respected health and safety services into a primary client management model that removes barriers for clients throughout all education and employment programs.  Recent analysis projects that our anti-poverty approach will generate more than $713 million in new wealth for individuals and society through increased earning power, tax payments, and reduced use of government benefits.

The driving force behind these new models are our partners, community investors, and the staff managing innovation on the ground. The articles that follow are snapshots from staff across the agency, a way of sharing our learning process with you.

The online format for this year's annual report represents one of many ways we are bringing our community into the digital space. Please join us in that effort by staying connected through email, social media, and website updates.

Sincerely,

Nicholas Torres, President       &        Kenneth I. Trujillo, Board Chair
