New Partnerships and Impressive Performance Results Enhance Unique Initiative that Combines Education and Support Services from Kindergarten through Two Years of College
Philadelphia, PA – October 1, 2009 – Congreso, a leading Latino social services
organization serving Northeast Philadelphia, announced new programs and performance
results in its unique K-14 Initiative, which combines innovative educational and support
services to challenge low-income students to achieve academic success at an event held yesterday at the Pan American Academy Charter School in Philadelphia.
Through partnerships with Big Picture, Harcum College, and i-LEAD, the K-14 Initiative provides, for the first time this fall, a continuum of educational services from Kindergarten through the first two years of college. The Initiative addresses the needs of low-income students in Northeast Philadelphia, where more than 50% of students do not finish high school and less than 3% achieve a college education.
