Congreso's Education and Workforce Services help children, youth and adults become competitive in a global economy by helping them reach their educational and career goals.

 
After-School Programs

Vision
To provide quality youth guided after school programming focused on creative and performing arts, athletics, STEM, career exploration and homework support.

Enrollment
Applications are on going with heavy enrollment, September, January and March.  Applications are available at site locations and Congreso’s Education and Workforce facility at 2800 N. American.

Structure
After school, youth are provided a snack and opportunities to complete homework, get homework support and small group tutoring if needed.  Enrichment clubs are provided each day and young people select a creative and/or athletic and health club.  Clubs are designed to include multiple disciplines and project-based learning (PBL) styles.  Group Facilitators or contractors create PBL or curriculum and daily lesson plans for each club.   Each club will also participate in an outing or field trip each month and special guest/speaker/visitor related to the club topic, career or PBL theme. Clubs include dance, theater, art and design, cosmology, culinary, garden, basketball, volleyball, track, soccer, softball, messy scientist, astrology, and video.

Childcare Development Associate Training Program

The CDA Training is a 10-week program that provides 120 hours of instruction to obtain nationally recognized CDA credentials that are required to work in childcare. OMART Training & Development provides three hrs of classroom instruction Mon-Fri, 9:00-12:00 p.m. at Congreso and 3-5 internship hours at a childcare facility. Upon successful completion of training, graduates are eligible for full-time employment opportunities with starting salaries ranging from $8.50 - $10.00 per hr.

Eligibility

Pass a Child Abuse History Clearance, pass a background check, have obtained a High School Diploma and some experience working with children.

Harcum College at Congreso
Harcum College at Congreso is a community-based associate’s degree program. Programs are offered in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Law and Justice, and Leadership. In addition to obtaining an associate’s degree, students will also have the opportunity to connect to a corporate track that will train them in competencies needed in today’s globalized economy. If needed, students can also be connected to client management services to assist in removing barriers to educational success. Classes will be held two nights a week from 5:30pm - 9:30pm to accommodate those who work during the day and parents.
