BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPOINTS JANNETTE DIAZ AS CONGRESO’S NEW PRESIDENT & CEO

PHILADELPHIA, PA, October 23, 2023 – Congreso’s Board of Directors has promoted Jannette Diaz to President & CEO effective immediately. An experienced leader with over 30 years of non-profit and for-profit business acumen, Jannette Diaz has served as Congreso’s Interim President & CEO since March, when former President & CEO Carolina DiGiorgio stepped down to join Governor Shapiro’s Administration.

Diaz has a long history with the organization, previously serving as the Chief Experience Officer (CXO) overseeing human resources, learning and evaluation, talent development, and security and as Vice President of Health Promotion & Wellness overseeing the Congreso Health Center, Esfuerzo HIV/AIDS Program, Latina Domestic Violence Program, East Division Crime Victims Services, and Lactation Program from 2015 to 2021. Diaz was also the founding Director the Congreso Girls Center from 2001 to 2003.

During her tenure at Congreso, Diaz played an integral role in the relocation of Congreso’s Federally Qualified Health Center to a new state of the art facility on the first floor of Congreso’s headquarters and in the achievement of Congreso’s Top Workplace awards and culture badges over the last 5 years. She has led Congreso through the last 7 months of transition with integrity, commitment, and drive.

“Congreso de Latinos Unidos is committed to the communities we serve and there is no better person than Jannette to guide us through our next journey,” said Congreso Board Chair Miguel Alban. “Jannette grew up in the community, she knows the agency better than anyone else, she is well respected in the region, and I am sure, she will continue to make a positive impact along with her amazing leadership team. I couldn’t be happier to have her as our new CEO.”

Prior to joining Congreso, Jannette spent 10 years of her career working for GEO Group Inc. as the Director of Abraxas Youth & Family Services Philadelphia Regional Office. Jannette started her career with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia working with youth involved in the juvenile justice system and the Department of Human Services. She continues to be inspired and guided by her “La Sallian values” that closely align with Congreso’s core values.

Reflecting on the opportunity, Jannette Diaz shared, “I am honored to serve as the President & CEO of an organization that’s mission and core values so closely align with my own. I know first-hand the impact that Congreso has made in the community that raised me. It feeds my soul and ignites the fire in me to humbly lead Congreso into its next chapter with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to service.”

Diaz served on the board of directors of Pan American Academy Charter School, founded by Congreso 15 years ago, from 2014 to 2018. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice from Chestnut Hill University. She is a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan and a proud mother and grandmother.
